How to Be a Citizen Lobbyist

A Lobbyist is someone who tries to influence legislation. The term "Lobbyist" has become a dirty word because rich people and powerful corporations use lobbyists to buy the legislation they want, and to serve their own needs. They have been exceedingly successful at doing it.

Citizen Lobbyists  lobby to inform their representatives about what they, as constituents, want or need. Being a Citizen Lobbyist is being an engaged participant in the political process. There are many things you can do to be a citizen lobbyist.

Move to Amend Lobbying Guide
1) Study your issue
2) Learn how government works
3) Communicate with government officials
4) Visit government representatives
5) Attend functions & Ask Questions
6) Meet with like minded groups
7) Share what you know with others
8) Testify to the Texas Legislature
