If you are looking for a way to break the ice in getting involved in your community - here is a suggestion:

The Move To Amend We the People Listen: A Nationwide Community Door-knocking Campaign
We the People Listen is a nationwide community door-knocking effort. Move to Amend volunteers will use a short survey to start people talking about what matters to them. Click here to get involved. We want to connect our work to the issues that folks care about -- and the best way to do that is by listening to, and talking with, our friends and neighbors.
Our goal is to personally connect with 10,000 people in the coming months to find out their issues of concern and relate those concerns to corporate Constitutional rights and money as free speech.
We’re kicking off this campaign with a webinar on Wednesday, July 17 at 5:00pm Pacific / 8:00pm Eastern. Click here to RSVP. We’ll provide you with everything you need to get started.
ITS OK THAT ITS PAST JULY 17- YOU CAN STILL START - by yourself, with a partner, or in teams.
This is a great project to form a new Move to Amend group around. We'll connect you with others in your area who want to get involved too. Or get together a team of your friends, or even just start listening to people by yourself!
ROCHELLE AND i WILL WORK TO FIND OTHERS IN BELL CO WHO WANT TO GET INVOLVED
Our listening project provides a good opportunity for reconnecting with your neighbors, or to make your first connections. You’ll be surprised how welcome you will be.
Electronic communication is wonderful, but it lacks the personal touch. People really do appreciate face-to-face exchanges -- and being listened to on issues they find important.
Plus, the information we gather will inform our work and help us build the democracy movement powerful enough to amend the US Constitution.
Does the idea of knocking on doors sound intimidating? We've become so isolated in this country that the practice of talking to our neighbors is no longer common. It is reasonable to be a little nervous...
But when people find out that you're a volunteer, not selling anything but just at their door to hear from them about what matters, you'll find almost everyone is happy to share. Take a little risk in the name of democracy and RSVP for our webinar to learn more...
If you are you are interested in the project and are unable to attend the webinar please RSVP anyway and we will send you the recording and let you know how to get involved in the campaign.
I THINK THIS IS A GOOD PROGRAM FOR STARTING OUT BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN ANYTHING - ALL YOU NEED TO DO IS LISTEN TO WHAT OTHERS CARE ABOUT.
ALL YOU HAVE TO BE IS A FRIEND!
Here is what Rochelle suggested:
A quick google search for "how to be an activist" found a few general ideas on how to go about being an activist
