Caldwell County Rochelle Day 512-559-1137
I got into the amendment movement because of problems in our government due to the corrupting influence of money in politics. I knew this nation had been great, and could be great again, but the way things are right now is definitely not great. I wanted to see if I could do anything to make a difference. I had never been politically active or involved with activism, even though I grew up during the greatest era of activism. When Occupy happened I felt it could be the catalyst for change and I took my first tentative steps into activism. That was Sept 2011. I'm still a beginner and I am often far out of my comfort zone, but I've decided this is the right thing to do.
Caldwell County citizens are working with County Commissioners to get a local resolution passed. This will help build momentum for a resolution in the State Legislature. Sixteen states and nearly 600 Municipal governments nationwide have already passed resolutions. Amending the Constitution is not easy and we have a lot of work to do. Thirty-four states must call for an amendment to force Congress to act. Another option is for 34 states to call for an Article V Convention and bypass Congress. The Amendment Convention would give the people more power to write the amendment they want. Click here for more info on the Convention method.
Join me in contacting our Caldwell County Commissioners. Let them know that you want them to pass a local resolution calling for a Constitutional Amendment to establish that money is not speech and Corporations should not have Constitutional Rights of people.

What's the status of a resolution in Caldwell County?
1) Commissioner Joe Roland has agreed to introduce and support a resolution.
2) Commissioner Munoz has agreed to support the resolution.
3) Commissioner Madrigal has not responded to my emails.
4) Commissioner Fred Buchholtz stated that there is a lot going on in the country right now and maybe this isn't the right time. He also voiced concerns about how candidates would fund their campaigns and seemed to want to have that solution in place first.
Three Commissioners are Democrats. The Caldwell County Democratic Convention adopted our resolution on their party platform, so any Democrat in office should stand with his party and support a resolution to amend.
Before we get a resolution introduced in Commissioner's Court we need to confirm that we have the votes to get it passed.
Contact your County Commissioner and ask them to support a Local resolution to Amend the Constitution and establish that money is NOT speech and that corporations do not have the same rights as people. This is an opportunity for them to take a leadership role in advancing this movement in Caldwell County. Then let me know (call or email) if they ask you any questions or request informations. If you would like me to join you in meeting your Commissioner in person I can do that too. Below is the Resolution we are asking them to pass.

Texas Ethics Commission shows that people associated with GGH have been investing in our State Legislature through campaign contributions. Large donations have been made to Speaker of the House, Joe Straus for the last two years, and lesser contributions were made to to Sen. Judith Zaffirini and Rep Tim Kleinschmidt. Other campaigns they contributed toward are Rep John Zerwas and Sen. Troy Fraser A facebook group was started to organize resistance. I joined other concerned citizens at the Capitol on Wed April 2, 2014 to protest the Supreme Court decision handed down earlier that day.
McCutcheon v FEC ruling raised individual's
aggregate spending limit in elections
from $123,200 to $5.9 million.
The historic battle to keep the corrupting influence of money out of politics is over. The Rich and Powerful have won. There is no law or regulation left to hold them back from electing their pawns and controlling what legislation becomes law.
If money equals speech then the voice of the majority of Americans will no longer be heard.
